What is inside each CELPIP reading PDF
Both files follow the structure of the real CELPIP-General Reading Test exactly, part for part and question for question.

Questions are numbered 1 to 38 straight through rather than restarting at each part, so the answer key can be read in one pass. Every question is multiple choice with four options, except Part 3, where you choose between paragraphs A to D or answer E when the information is not given anywhere.
The last three pages of each file carry the answer key, the raw score conversion table and a short note on what the bands mean. Nothing is held back and nothing needs unlocking.
How to sit the test properly on paper
A downloaded test is only worth the conditions you sit it under. Four things make the difference between practice and reading.
Time each part separately
This is the single most common preparation mistake. The CELPIP Reading Test does not give you 39 minutes for the whole paper, it gives you 10, 8, 9 and 12 minutes per part, and the clock does not carry over. Set four timers. When one ends, stop, even if you are mid-question.
Never leave a blank
There is no penalty for a wrong answer. An unanswered question and a wrong one cost exactly the same, so a guess is free. If a question is taking more than about 40 seconds, mark your best option and move on.
Score each part, not just the total
Marks are not spread evenly. Part 1 carries 11 of the 38 and Part 2 only 8. Work out your percentage per part, then put your study time into the weakest one rather than practising what you are already good at.
Do the second test on a screen
The real CELPIP is computer delivered. Paper is useful for building accuracy without distraction, but reading long passages on a screen and scrolling back to check a detail is a separate skill, and it is the one test day actually asks for.
What your score out of 38 actually means
Reading is computer scored, so converting a practice result into a CELPIP level is arithmetic rather than judgement.

From level 3 upward, your CELPIP level is also your CLB level, per skill. There is no overall CELPIP score and no overall CLB, which is why a strong Reading result cannot offset a weak Speaking one when a program asks for CLB 9 across the board.
Paragon publishes these ranges with deliberate overlaps, because the raw to level conversion varies between test forms. The table above resolves the overlaps so one raw score gives one level. Treat any score within a mark of a boundary as genuinely borderline, and use the reading score calculator if you want the working shown.

Both have a job. Using the wrong one wastes the test.

The sensible order is to sit the PDF first, on paper, with no distractions, to find out where your accuracy actually sits. Then move to the screen for everything after that, because scrolling, screen fatigue and a clock you cannot pause are all part of what the real test measures.
The CELPIP reading question types, and what each is testing
Knowing what a part is really asking is worth more than another hour of untargeted practice.
Part 1: Reading Correspondence, 11 questions in 10 minutes
A personal letter or email, followed by questions about it and then a reply with blanks to complete. The trap is that the answer options are all plausible sentences in isolation. What decides them is whether the letter actually said that, so read for what is stated rather than what sounds reasonable. The reply section also tests whether you noticed the writer's tone, not just the facts.
Part 2: Reading to Apply a Diagram, 8 questions in 8 minutes
A comparison of four options, usually plans, passes or packages, followed by an email that has to be completed using them. This is the most mechanical part and the easiest to score well on: almost every answer is a detail sitting in one cell of the diagram. Read the email first so you know which details you are hunting for, then go to the diagram, rather than trying to memorise all four options up front.
Part 3: Reading for Information, 9 questions in 9 minutes
Four lettered paragraphs on one topic, and statements to match to whichever paragraph contains them. Option E means the information is not given in any paragraph, and candidates under-use it badly, forcing a match that is not there. If you cannot point at the sentence that supports a statement, E is very often correct.
Part 4: Reading for Viewpoints, 10 questions in 12 minutes
An article followed by reader comments, testing whether you can tell whose opinion is whose. The longest part and the one most people run short on. Track the position each person takes as you read, in two or three words per person, because the questions almost always turn on who thinks what rather than on the underlying facts.

Can I print these CELPIP reading practice tests?

What score do I need on CELPIP Reading?
It depends on the program rather than on the test. A raw score of 31 to 32 out of 38 has typically corresponded to CELPIP level 9, which is CLB 9, and 24 to 27 to level 7. Express Entry eligibility is commonly CLB 7 in every skill, while CLB 9 in every skill is where language points are maximised. Confirm current requirements with IRCC.
